The Chairman Akwa Ibom Roads and Other Infrastructure Maintenance Agency, AKROIMA, Prince Godwin Ntuk Udeh Ph.D, has assured Akwa Ibom people and the 7th Legislative Council of Uyo Local Government Area that based on the directive of Governor Udom Emmanuel, his agency has returned to roads in order to achieve zero potholes in Uyo.
Ntuk Udeh who made this known when the councilors paid a courtesy call on him in his office, revealed that it would have been counterproductive if government had invested on rehabilitation of roads during rainy season.
He assured the councilors that as rain subsides, everything has been put in place for immediate filing of potholes in Uyo.
“Let me say this on behalf of His Excellency that it is not the fault of the government but the heavy downpour this year stalled our work because the greatest enemy of asphalt is rain.
“His Excellency directed that AKROIMA should begin work on Monday but that was not possible because there was heavy rain fall in Uyo that day . I want to say that based on the Governor’s directive, AKROIMA is back on the road to achieve the yearnings of the masses on zero potholes.
“Given our track record of working day and night, I want to assure Akwa Ibom people that we will deliver on the mandate of zero potholes.”
Ntuk Udeh attributed all his past achievements in governance to God, noting that when the grace of God upon a man, he can achieve anything.
He urged the councilors to remain united and support the Governor bring out a successor.
Earlier, members of the 7th legislative council of Uyo local government area had assured of their support in actualizing the zero pothole policy in the state capital.
The councilors said as land lords of Uyo, they were in Ntuk Udeh’s office to acquaint themselves with first-hand information bordering on road rehabilitation.
The 12 councilors led by the Leader of the Legislative Council Hon. Ubong Effiong recalled various achievements of Dr. Ntuk Udeh as Commissioner for Transports, and expressed no doubt on his ability to bring to fruition the zero pothole policy of Governor Udom Emmanuel.
“We know that you are a performer. You were the one that stopped keke from crossing through Ibom plaza and entering Willington Bassey way.
“Before you took over as AKROIMA boss, your equipment yard at Nwanaiba was overgrown with weeds but you revamped the place to what it is today.
“We are here to tell you to keep the flag of performance flying because we are behind you.”Hon. Ubong Effiong said.
The councilors appreciated the Governor for reappointing Dr. Ntuk Udeh into office as AKROIMA chairman and expressed belief Ntuk Udeh’s ability.
