The All Progressives Congress (APC), Akwa Ibom State chapter has suspended the state organizing secretary, Hon. Aboh Uduyok for abetting what the part described as illegality and purporting to have inaugurated a parallel ward Exco.
In a release signed by the state publicity secretary, Nkeruwem Enyongekere, the party said it decided to pull the sledgehammer against Hon. Uduyok to serve as a deterrent to others.
The party added that a list of 87 of her members who have taken the party to court without exhausting internal dispute resolution mechanisms has also been compiled and sent to the national Secretariat for disciplinary action in line with the provisions of the party’s constitution.
Enyongekere quoted article 21, section D, sub section (v) thus; “Any member who files an action in court of law against the party or any of its officers on any matter or matters relating to the discharge of the duties of the party without first exhausting the means for redress provided for in this Constitution shall automatically stand expelled from the party on filing such action and appeal against expulsion as stipulated on this clause shall be entertained until the withdrawal of the action from court by the member”.
Other members disciplined by the party includes the 16 chapter Chairmen who were suspended, their suspension was upheld, they were also recommend to the National body for expulsion while that of Mr. Raphael Akakpab of Easten Obolo chapter was lifted after he was exonerated and cleared from all wrong doings.
Barr. Imo Akpan and Barr. Mfon Udeme of Ikono and Ibiono Ibom chapters respectively were found guilty of anti party activities and were consequently punished with 6 months suspension which can only be lifted after a successful appeal.
It is on record that Akpabio’s faction of the party has been in a fierce battle with Udoedehe’s camp, the battle led to some legal banters that tend to give them some teeth.
However, Senator Udoedehe’s camp is said to be relying on the party supremacy to puncture Akpabio and his men, a situation which has led to the invocation of the provisions of the party Constitution to deal with anyone who seems to cross their path.
