Film-maker, Effiom Effiom believes that inspite of the ibibio language being spoken by a minority people in Nigeria, it’s movies can still gain mileage and success on national and international platforms if promoted properly.
The One2 Films Chief explained this in a virtual conversation with Hypestation, revealing that with the support of advanced technology, the Ibibio movies do not require marketers with conventional stores to drive sales.
“Technology has allowed thriving in every industry, filmmaking is not an exception, our dialect movies can thrive nationally and internationally via online platforms without marketers with bricks and mortar outlets”. Effiom says.
When he was asked if there’s any limitation to the promotion of movies with the Ibibio and Efik languages, since they belonged to the 4th largest ethnic group in Nigeria with just two States, he said; “We might be small but we are among the most creative as such we are well sort after, people from far and wide, different tribes and culture are interested in our content, so our size or number of States poses no limitations”.
