The village head of Ikot Afanga in Oruk Anam Local Government Area, Chief Sunday Jimbo has called on Federal Government to speedily sign community policing bill and provide adequate security equipments to the agency.
He made the call recently while addressing youths of the area on the need to be security conscious.
Chief Jumbo noted that as insecurity lhas engulfed people in the local area, it is necessary for Federal Government to sign community policing bill into law so as to ensure the safety of the people.
He said, “We are on a very difficult time whereby people’s life is nothing and if the federal and state government continue to keep quite over this ills Akwa Ibom State will turn to war zone. The only thing that can save us from this mess is to approve, strengthen and provide the necessary security apparatus to community police force so that we can be in peace”.
The monarch however charged the youths of the area to be security conscious in their various streets, adding that security is a business to everyone.
He advised them to set up night guard at strategic entrance and be security alert, this he said will enhance peace, development and stability in the area.
He further, added that his counterpart should checkmate unauthorized business establishment, stressing that hoodlums are hid in the name of business operation to cause harm to the people in the area.
He urged the youths of the area to call the police officers if any suspected movement or activities is discover in the area.
Also speaking, the youth leader in the community, thanked the village head for his fatherly advise and promise to ensure that criminal activities and other crimes is reared in the community.
