An industrialist and social commentator Mr. Godwini Ukoh has called on well to do Akwa Ibom people to stop the excessive capital flight by establishing Small Scale Industries that can cater for people’s needs.
Mr. Ukoh noted with shock the number of Akwa Ibomites going out of the state to purchase crested wrappers , T-shirts and many other items, which he said could have possibly been produced in the state if people see the need for such.
The industrialist noted that if our politicians and contractors plunge back money they make by establishing some small scale industries to address capital flight in these areas.
He described the issue as a sad reality that must be urgently addressed to halt huge linear financial flow from the state into states like Abia, Kano, Lagos and Anambra.
He said apart from making the state an industrial hub through such means, he exolained such act will open employment opportunities to many Akwa Ibom youth.
“Every year we keep going to Lagos and Abia states to place order for customized wrappers, T-shirts, caps and many other items when these things can be produced here.
“Our top business men and women can venture into this line of business in order to also attract people from other states who could come in to buy these things from us.” Godwini Ukoh said.
He called on government, well-to-do personalities in the state to encourage entrepreneurs with such business ideas succeed.
