Apostle Nyeneime Andy, founder of Holy Ghost Ambassadors Ministry International, has been crowned the Akwa Ibom State chairman of Young Progressive Party, YPP.
In a colourful event which began with carnival around select streets in Uyo on Friday led by the South South Zonal Coordinator of Young Progressive Party, YPP Prof. Tosan Harriman, the event ended in the commissioning of the state office and crowning of the new state chairman.
The South South Coordinator who represented the National Chairman of the party said his party men came out because of their undying desire to change the narrative.
“We are tired of the political leaders in the country. Tired of having a country continue this way. It is time to take back this nation and state from the present crop of politicians.”
In his speech , the State Chairman of YPP Apostle Nyeneime Andy described YPP as alternative party to Akwa Ibom people not opposition party.
“Our vision is to create a party for Akwa Ibom people to express themselves. We want a party of the people, by the people and for the people.
“A party where Akwa Ibom people get to choose their Governor, Senators, House of Representative members, House of Assembly members and other public office holders by themselves and not by an appointment.
“So YPP is coming as the Third Force, as an alternative party for Akwa Ibom people to rise as a people and choose their Governor, senators and others through a completely democratic process.
“Now is the Youth O’clock, I therefore call on the over two million (2,000,000) youths and women to rise to their responsibility of choosing who should be their leaders. We have the numbers and we need to come together as united people.
“In other words, the Third Force is only a vehicle or platform that Akwa Ibom people need to drive the right people into leadership. We are not going to restrict it to party lines. We are more than a party, we are a movement.” Andy said.
He called on youths, women and elders to be part of the Third Force including members of PDP, APC and other parties.
The YPP State Chairman explained that though his party is opened to credible candidates to file in for offices of the Governor, Senators, House of Representatives, House of Assembly, he will ensure YPP does not become a dumping ground for rejected aspirants from other parties.
