He was born just like any other mortal on the 28th November, 1963 into the royal family of late Pastor Moffat Udoekpo and late senior Deaconess Ikwo Moffat Udoekpo of Ikot Akpan Eda, Ekparakwa Clan in Oruk Anam Local Government Area.
He had a very strict, disciplined and God fearing upbringing by parents who were selfless community leaders par excellence and true believers. He was to later grow up following the parent’s footsteps of selflessness and service to God and humanity. It would be an understatement to say that he places other people’s welfare and interest above his own, traits he inherited from his parents especially his dear father. He is very unassuming and approachable.
He is very transparent and open to people. Very approachable and accessible. An epitome of peace and humility. A man of the people and a friend to the poor, orphan and the down trodden. His name is OBONG (ELDER) AKPABONG MOFFAT UDOEKPO.
Obong Udoekpo attended primary school, Ekparakwa where he sat for and obtained his First School Leaving Certificate (FSLC) with Distinction in 1972. He later proceeded to Comprehensive Secondary School, Ikot Okoro in Oruk Anam Local Government Area in 1973 and left in 1978 with West African School Certificate (WASC) in Division Two.
Not done with his academic pursuit, he further attended the School of Arts and Science, Uyo, for his A level papers in Basic Studies (CBS) in 1981.
His academic sojourn was to further take him to the prestigious University of Ibadan, Oyo State in 1984. He graduated with Bachelor of Science (B.Sc) degree in Economics with 2nd Class Upper Division in 1987.
As his quest for knowledge is insatiable, he again enrolled in the University of Uyo in 1999 where he bagged his Master’s in Business Administration (MBA) in 2002.His working experience and academic career is very rich and rewarding and spans over a period of a little over three decades. After his graduation from the University of Ibadan, Oyo State in 1987, he was away in Niger State for the mandatory one year National Youth Service Corps scheme where he served in Nadyako Secondary School as an Accounts/Economics teacher.
In 1991, he joined the Judiciary Service Commission, Uyo, as a Personnel Officer and left in 1992 for Cooperative Development Bank where he served in its Uyo Branch as a Banking Officer.
While in the Bank, he served in various capacities and in different branches including Head of Operations; Broad Street Branch; Lagos Island, Lagos from 1995-1997; Assistant Manager (Audit), Uyo Branch from February – July, 2000. He left the Bank in 2004 as a Branch Manager, Ikot Abasi Branch for Options Securities Limited (Stock Brokers) Uyo as Business Officer Manager.Always on the move to acquire more professional experience and break new grounds, he joined Noval Star Capital Ltd (A Business and Funds Management Organization) as an Executive Director in 2009 and again on to First-Trans Ltd (Road Transportation and Haulage Services), a company he co-founded in 2011 and was made its pioneer General Manager.
Armed with these intimidating credentials and working experience, it was time to move on. It was time for Obong (Elder) Akpabong Udoekpo to move to VKS Nigeria Construction Ltd (a Civil Engineering Construction and Industrial Company) where he now superintends as the Group Accounts Manager.
He is an excellent manager of money, men and materials. No wonder he has as his objective, “To contribute my best to my work environment with the aim of improving on the standard inherited and to be the best in my profession, irrespective of the circumstances within the environment”.
Needless to say that he has attended several courses/workshops both locally and internationally. In recognition of his selfless services to humanity, he was duly recognized as “Obong Unwana” of Ediene Attai Village in Oruk Ama Local Government Area. On Saturday, 18th May, 2019, Obong (Elder) Akpabong Udoekpo was conferred with the title of “Obong Unwana Ekparakwa” by the then Clan Head of Ekparakwa, His Royal Highness, Obong Jimmy Etuk on the occasion of his coronation.
A function that was well attended by the ‘who is who’ in the State and by Ekparakwa sons and daughters both at home and in the diaspora. This well deserved title was due to his unequalled selfless services to the people of the Clan and even beyond, together with his unmatched philanthropic gestures over time.Obong (Elder) Udoekpo is a member of Rotary Club International (District 9140); former chairman, Ekparakwa Development Association; Secretary, Ekparakwa Club, among others.
Using his socio-political group, Ikot Akpan Eda Support Group for Governor Udom Emmanuel, he delivered bloc votes for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in his village, Ikot Akpan Eda and indeed Ekparakwa Clan in 2019.
He is a man with the milk of human kindness running in his blood and is poised to even touching more lives as this act is his trades mark.Obong (Elder) Udoekpo who is an accomplished Economist and a Financial Guru, is always there for the poor and needy in the society and is always ever ready to provide a helping shoulder for them to lean on.
The indefatigable icon has provided succor to many indigent students in the tertiary institution as well as some families in the society who are facing some existential challenges. His doggedness, zeal and enthusiasm in pursuing what he believes in which is usually humanitarian inclined is quite unprecedented.
He is an unrepentant apostle of “Givers never lack”. The easy going Obong Unwana Ekparakwa is a philanthropist per excellence, a PDP Chieftain in Ekparakwa Clan, Oruk Anam Local Government Area and indeed in the State. He is a grassroot political mobilizer, an erudite scholar, a community leader of no mean repute, a gentleman to the core, a good team player and above all, God fearing.
If Obong (Elder) Akpabong Udoekpo could perform all these feats in his capacity as a private citizen, he would certainly be an agent of positive and unprecedented change and transformation if given a wider platform.Obong (Elder) Akpabong Moffat Udoekpo, who is an ordained Deacon of the Redeem Christian Church of God is happily married with children.
