Barr. Onofiok Luke, member representing Etinan/Nsit Ibom/Nsit Ubium Federal constituency in the National Assembly has harped on the need for Ministry of Innovation and Creativity in the state.
He said such ministry, when created, will discover, harness and train human resources the state is blessed with in order to make them ready export in human capital.
The lawmaker who was the keynote speaker at the one year anniversary of Futurelabs in Ikot Ekpene yesterday, said part of his future blueprints for the state will be provision of seed fund capital in the state’s budget to encourage and support start-ups.
“As part of the goal for our future, we intend to create the ministry of Innovation and creativity which will be tasked with the responsibility of discovering and harnessing the abundant human resources we are blessed with as a people, train them and make them ready exports in human capital.
“The ministry will also work to ensure that creative work are patented so that our young minds can take the benefit of their creative ideas.
“We are aware that ideas rule our world but we also reckon that ideas need support and the necessary capital to grow.
“To this end, a fundamental part of our future blueprint will be the provision of seed fund capital in the state’s budget through a separate fund made available for this purpose or a proposed funding plan similar to the Akwa Ibom Youth Development fund which has been dear to my heart.
“This will be a sure way to encourage and support our start-ups while also encouraging others to take advantage and birth their dreams.”
Luke assured the youth that his future goal for the state is to address every issue and bottleneck encountered by service providers .
He explained that once such challenges are addressed, ease of doing business will be assured and the state will witness great investment in the ICT sector.
