The Society for Geriatric Health has been provided with items for the upkeep of the sicked and aged persons by the Akwa Ibom Government House Monthly Prayer Meeting Committee.
Items donated include: cash, food items, beverages and detergents.
The senior special assistant to the governor on religious affairs, Rev Daniel Akwatang said the Governor Udom Emmanuel in his magnanimity was touching lives of people including, the elderly ones.
Represented by a member of the committee, Archbishop Effiong Ekoi, he explained that materials made available were drawn from offering during prayer meetings , with support from the governor.
He noted that caring for the aged entails sacrifice and special care, therefore he extolled the founder of the centre for choosing to care for the elderly ones in the society.
The governor’s aide urged the inmates to give their lives to God as He will bestow them good health and longevity.
The secretary, board of trustees of the centre , Mr Ubong King who received the items on behalf of the coordinator,Mrs Christiana Ekerete eulogized the governor for ceaseless support to the home and extolled the committee for the confidence reposed in them.
He assured that the materials would be judiciously utilized to advance the cause of humanity, adding that the gesture complementt the centre’s effort in the maintenance of the aged people.
The secretary prayed God to bless the governor, the leadership of the committee and members.
The donation was witnessed by a member of board of trustees, Bishop Moses Udoh and members of the prayer committee.
